Terms of Service Addendum

This Addendum supplements and is incorporated into the Ismaili Professionals Network Terms of Service (available at ipnonline.net/terms-of-service, the “IPNO ToS”). By registering for or attending the Unmatched event (“Event”), you agree to be bound by both the IPNO ToS and this Addendum. In the event of any conflict between this Addendum and the IPNO ToS, this Addendum controls with respect to the Unmatched event.

Capitalized terms used but not defined herein have the meanings given to them in the IPNO ToS.

A. Nature of the Unmatched Event

Unmatched is a social matchmaking and networking event organized by IPN for adult members, ages 25-35, of the Ismaili community. The Event is designed to facilitate introductions among consenting adult participants. IPN does not guarantee any romantic outcome, compatibility result, or continuation of any relationship formed at or through the Event.

Participation in the Event is entirely voluntary. The Event is separate from and supplemental to the IPNOnline platform, and use of the Event registration portal does not require an active IPNOnline account.

B. AI-Assisted Matching

B.1 How It Works

IPN uses a proprietary scoring matrix to pair participants during the Event. As part of this process, IPN offers an optional AI-assisted analysis of participants’ free-text registration responses. The AI model (Claude Sonnet 4.6, developed by Anthropic, PBC) evaluates responses for humor, sentiment, self-awareness, and thematic alignment, and returns a numerical compatibility score. This score is one input into IPN’s broader scoring matrix. The scoring matrix and matching algorithm are not generative AI-based and operate separately from the AI analysis.

Your free-text responses are transmitted to Anthropic’s API without directly identifying information; your name, email, and other registration details are not included in what is sent. However, please be aware that the content of your responses may contain information that could indirectly identify you, and you should keep this in mind when completing your responses. Your free-text responses and any compatibility scores generated from them are retained only for the duration of the event weekend and permanently deleted upon its conclusion. Anthropic, as the operator of the AI model, has its own independent data practices; participants are encouraged to review Anthropic’s privacy policy at anthropic.com.

B.2 Data Transmitted to AI

Only the following anonymized free-text responses are transmitted to the AI model:

  • Bio
  • An unserious hill the participant would die on
  • The participant’s most lovable flaw
  • What the participant wants their future partner to be passionate about

No name, email address, or other personally identifiable information is transmitted to the AI model. Responses are submitted in anonymized form solely for the purpose of generating a compatibility score. IPN does not instruct the AI to store, train on, or retain responses beyond a single scoring request. The four free-text responses are transmitted to Anthropic’s API without identifying you directly for the sole purpose of generating a compatibility score. IPN does not store, learn from, or retain your responses beyond the scope of a single scoring request. IPN is not responsible for Anthropic’s independent data practices; participants are encouraged to review Anthropic’s privacy policy at anthropic.com.

B.3 Opt-In Consent

AI-assisted matching is strictly opt-in. Participants who do not affirmatively consent will still participate in the Event’s standard matching process using structured registration data only. Opting out does not affect eligibility to attend or participate in the Event.

B.4 Third-Party AI Provider

The AI model is operated by Anthropic, PBC, a third party. IPN is not responsible for Anthropic’s independent data practices or privacy policies. Participants who opt into AI-assisted matching are encouraged to review Anthropic’s privacy policy at anthropic.com. IPN does not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for the purpose of any AI-generated compatibility score.

C. Supplemental Liability Disclaimers

The following disclaimers supplement Section 9 of the IPNO ToS and apply specifically to the Unmatched Event. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, IPN, its officers, directors, volunteers, representatives, affiliates, and event partners (collectively, “IPN Parties”) expressly disclaim liability for:

  • Background Checks: IPN does not conduct background checks on any participant. IPN makes no representations regarding the character, history, identity, or intentions of any attendee.
  • Participant Conduct: IPN is not responsible for the actions, statements, or behavior of any participant before, during, or after the Event.
  • Medical Needs: Participants are responsible for their own medical needs, including the cost of coverage for medical treatment participants may need during the Event.
  • Matching Outcomes: IPN does not warrant that any matching or pairing will result in compatibility, connection, or any particular outcome. Pairings are determined through a combination of scoring, event logistics, and IPN team judgment, and do not constitute a professional assessment or endorsement.
  • Post-Event Relationships: IPN is not responsible for any outcomes, interactions, disputes, or damages arising from relationships or communications initiated through the Event.
  • AI Analysis Accuracy: IPN does not warrant the accuracy or fitness for purpose of any AI-generated compatibility score. AI analysis is one input among many.
  • Third-Party Platforms: IPN is not responsible for the terms, privacy practices, or conduct of any third-party platforms, vendors, or services used in connection with the Event, including Anthropic.

D. Participant Liability Waiver and Indemnification

Participant voluntarily and knowingly assumes all risks connected with the Event and participation in the Event, including but not limited to the risk of loss, property damage, or personal injury, including death, whether involving, in part or in whole, the conduct (including but not limited to the acts, omissions, negligence, or gross negligence) of the IPN Parties. Participant releases and discharges the IPN Parties from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including court costs and attorneys’ fees) arising out of or relating to the Event or Participant’s attendance at the Event.

Participant agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the IPN Parties from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or relating to: (i) Participant’s attendance at the Event; (ii) Participant’s conduct toward other attendees; (iii) any breach of this Addendum or the IPNO ToS by Participant; or (iv) any misrepresentation made by Participant in connection with Event registration.

E. Photo & Media Release

As a separate condition of participation, participants will be asked to complete a Photo & Media Release at the time of registration. The Photo Release is a standalone form and governs IPN’s right to use participant likeness in event photography, video, and marketing materials.

Participants may accept or decline the Photo Release. Declining does not affect eligibility to attend the Event. IPN will make reasonable efforts to exclude participants who decline from published event photography, but cannot guarantee exclusion from incidental group photos.

F. Code of Conduct

All participants are expected to treat fellow attendees with respect and dignity. This supplements Section 4 of the IPNO ToS. IPN reserves the right to remove any participant from the Event, without refund, for behavior deemed inappropriate, harassing, threatening, or otherwise disruptive, at the sole discretion of IPN staff or volunteers.

G. Registration & Refund Policy

This section supplements Section 6.4 of the IPNO ToS (Refund Policy — To Be Determined). For the Unmatched Event, registration fees are non-refundable unless the Event is cancelled by IPN. IPN reserves the right to refuse or revoke registration at its discretion. Registration transfers to another individual are not permitted without IPN’s prior written approval.

H. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

This Addendum shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of laws provisions. Any disputes arising under this Addendum shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Texas’ state and federal courts. This supplements Section 14.1 of the IPNO ToS (which references the laws of the USA generally) solely with respect to the Unmatched Event.

I. Entire Agreement

This Addendum, together with the IPNO Terms of Service, the AI-Assisted Matching Consent, and the Photo & Media Release, constitutes the entire agreement between the participant and IPN with respect to the Unmatched Event. In the event of any conflict between this Addendum and the IPNO ToS regarding Event-specific matters, this Addendum controls.

J. Unmatched Website & Registration Portal

J.1 Relationship to IPNO Platform

The Unmatched website, located at unmatched.ipnonline.net (“Unmatched Website”), is an extended domain operated by IPN as part of the IPNOnline platform ecosystem. The Unmatched Website is not a separate legal entity or independent platform. All use of the Unmatched Website — including browsing, account creation, form submission, and interaction with the matching registration portal — is governed by the IPNO ToS and this Addendum.

J.2 Data Collection on the Unmatched Website

The Unmatched Website collects the following information from participants during the registration process:

  • Name and email address (used for event administration and communication only)
  • Free-text registration responses (used for matching; a subset may be transmitted to Anthropic’s API without directly identifying information, as described in Section B)
  • Payment information, where applicable (processed by Stripe; not stored by IPN)
  • Usage data and analytics, subject to IPN’s Privacy Policy and any applicable third-party analytics services

All data collected through the Unmatched Website is handled in accordance with IPN’s Privacy Policy (available at ipnonline.net/privacy-policy) and, where applicable, this Addendum. IPN does not sell participant data to third parties.

J.3 Website Availability & Accuracy

The Unmatched Website is provided “as is” and “as available.” IPN does not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free functionality, or complete accuracy of all information displayed on the Unmatched Website. This supplements Section 9.1 of the IPNO ToS.

J.4 Matching Platform

The scoring matrix and matching algorithm built into the Unmatched Website are proprietary tools operated solely by IPN. Participants interact with the matching platform solely through the registration form and event participation. IPN does not guarantee the availability, continuity, or results of the matching platform at any time.

J.5 Prohibited Website Use

Use of the Unmatched Website is subject to the Acceptable Use Policy in Section 4 of the IPNO ToS. In addition, participants may not:

  • Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or extract data from the Unmatched Website or its matching algorithm
  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent registration information
  • Attempt to manipulate matching outcomes by submitting inauthentic or coordinated responses
  • Register on behalf of another individual without their knowledge and consent

Participant Acknowledgment

By completing registration for the Unmatched event, I confirm that I have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Addendum and the IPNO Terms of Service.
